He was rebuked later as his father needed that particular car on the same day. He says his mother would have given a long speech explaining why he cannot take the car, and it would have registered fully, “This car is in the garage for servicing, and the other one will pick up your sister from school, so your Dad needs this one.” His Dad only spoke one word NO.
