It’s a landmark day in my life. I decide that others’ opinions on my existence do not matter.
I see moving lips around me, voicing disapproval, but I go about doing my work with determinate ease. Those expressions are not very pleasant, but it is about them, not me. I don’t feel a need to react.
There is unusual silence both inside and outside – all noise has disappeared.
It’s Six Sentence Story Thursday Link Up!

Sounds like a good kind of silence. Enjoy it, it has lots to say.

It’s so hard to block out all the criticism–all the judgment. But the reward for success is luxury.

“…it is about them, not me.”
Surely one of the most difficult elements in all our lives. To know where the bounds of responsibility end, in the fullest sense of the word, To know that I cannot directly affect and otherwise change others is half of it, the other half is to know that they are not responsible for how I feel/think/act.
I think the second half is more difficult (but much more rewarding to accept) than the former.

Our street is a shortcut through town and normally we get a lot of traffic. As of late hardly anyone drives down our street and I’m enjoying it.
My world is a lot happier since I stopped caring what others thought of me.

I am much happier since I flushed the need for others’ approval. Good six. Good thiughts. Also, the quiet outside is eerie. I hope we are learning from all this.

Isn’t this the goal? Achieving this state? Even if had temporarily, it is sufficient reinforcement to continue the journey for inner peace. Mind boggling when you stop to think about it, the amount of energy lost on extraneous elements of our lives day to day. Always circles round to choice.
Your 6 has complimented my morning “coffee and contemplation” quite nicely.
Thanks, Reena, for the reminder 🙂

I’m sure we will want certain parts of the lockdown to continue, after things return to normalcy. New habits are being formed.
