Constructing a memorial is no mean task.
Each stone speaks the story of ideals, values, sacrifices, suffering and pride. The stories of those the warriors left behind are heart-breaking. They hadn’t asked for this, but are carrying forwatd the tradition with pride.
I put aside the hammer and chisel, and think… the stone I’ve used to carve this masterpiece is a martyr in its own way.
I am a medium to give shape to so many things that people live and die for.
I choose a cause for my life today – non-violence, and all that it takes to propagate it.

Each stone speaks the story of ideals, values, sacrifices, suffering and pride This is a beautiful line. Well done, Reena.

What at world–one of non-violence. That would mean the cessation of bitter anger, accusations and counter-accusations, falsehoods spread as truth. Quite a goal.

An artist knows better than others what stirs him, what compromises he has to make and what exactly does he construct/modify/destroy. Thank you, Linda!

“I choose a cause for my life today – non-violence, and all that it takes to propagate it.” If that is your position, rather than a fictional construct, I honour you. You have chosen a way of martyrdom, for even if people don’t kill you for your ideals, you will be made to pay. It’s a very hard cause to take up, but we need to do it if the human race is to survive.

I like your very realistic perspective on non-violence. Defining non-violence and deciding the scope of it to be followed, are both difficult.

Absolutely agree. Would it were we memorialized the peacemakers even half as much as the soldiers.
