Escapism

 I wonder
 what peeling the earth 
 will reveal
 -stormy depths
 -emotions paling
 into insignificance
  
 -unseen calm
 belittling mammoth
 peace efforts
 -our pride
 in humanity
 melting in co-existence
  
 yet I move
 away – as lessons
 follow me
 afraid of
 being dwarfed by Earth
 -my magnificence unpricked
