She turned back to look at the building which had been her alma mater. She had attended the convocation ceremony with her parents. A sophomore had blossomed into a scholar here, and now she had to find her way in the world outside.
Soon, the institution was caught in the whirlpool of the #MeToo movement. Scandals erupted every day. The people she had looked up to with respect, turned out to be monsters in disguise. She reflected on uncomfortable moments she had taken in her stride. Maybe others could not. Maybe others had suffered more. Maybe others found courage where she couldn’t. She was now interpreting multiple layers of those conversations.
She was covering the story in her new role as a journalist. She walked out with heavy footsteps. Perspectives had changed.
She turned back to look at the building which had been her alma mater – for the last time.

Perspectives change with new knowledge, especially when you become aware of the fact that the ones whom you looked up to weren’t worthy of all respect and deference. Great tale, Reenaji!
