joys sit light on me
as I watch
dark shadows
fade into oblivion
I rise above
petty squabbles,
viciousness
I cast a glance
at the rock
I left down there
missing it a little
and wondering
who will inherit it
thought energy dissipates,
does not disappear
we need to choose
the air we inhale
company we keep
to neutralize
toxicity

Yes, we do. So very true!

great writing Reena π
I particularly liked the 2nd stanza – the wording, is just wonderful … and adds such a dimension to this poem/reflection – fascinating interpretation of the image!

Thanks! The image conveyed lightness. Rest of it was built upon it.

I wonder indeed, who will inherit the earth. What values will we pass on to future generations. Great mind provoking poetry.
