We traversed the same road, same time
the ride not always so smooth.
one warned the other, of an oncoming ditch
and managed to save many a glitch.
But we had to bid goodbye-
It was only a trip, my workplace friend!
We shared the latest news
analysed all possible views
a shared background in the past-
but here, camaraderie did not last.
we had to disagree in the end.
it was only a perspective, my friend!
We are judged by the company we keep
elite club memberships do matter.
image counts, more so does my boss
he did not like our chatter-
we ratted on each other.
it was boss management, my friend!
You asked questions, I answered
sharing my blues, the grapevine too-
it was so easy to nail and frame
to earn some points, and lucrative glue
the soil was not conducive to growth
it needed trust and loyalty, my friend!

Your poem really captures those odd incidental friendships that life throws our way sometimes – those friendships that come and go without ever really touching the heart.

Trust and loyalty are hard to find these days. So sad that has to be the case. Some choices are very hard to make. I enjoyed the progression of the story in your poem.
