River flowing up a hill

This is unusual. Rivers do not normally move upstream. I see the river moving uphill, and wonder how and why?

Has it forgotten or left something valuable there, and wants to retrieve it? Are there old scores to be settled? Does it want to catch someone unaware?

Going against the natural flow takes considerable willpower, energy and optimism. But what if natural flows go only downstream, and desires go upstream? What if it is the proverbial Hobson’s choice, and one has to muster up strength?
