Personality used to be the summation of a life. Beliefs, ethics and dreams all contributed to the final shape of human existence. Parents and teachers took several years to mould a human, changing all that they could and accepting what could not be changed.
The essence of a person spread like fragrance in all interactions, and gave others an idea what to expect. It was an externalization of internal traits.
The concept of writing an elevator pitch, and living by it spoilt it all.

Wow, so true! What do you think changed to make people so much more complicated? Was it only by living the elevator pitch, or did society change so much that personalities became pretty much non-existent? I was recently researching personality types, and there are so many, but no one fits into them. It was so insightful reading this! Thank you for sharing!

I’d not heard that phrase either. Now I’m thinking it could be done in six sentences. But only at the summation of a well lived life.

Personal branding and sales pitch experts are tom-tomming the phrase in this part of the world. And it had actually not helped anyone. Thanks!

I too learned a new phrase from your blog. That is one thing I really enjoy about reading blog posts. One is always learning, especially if she takes time to explore more about the subject or the word or phrase. That being said, this is an excellent SSS. Being true to oneself and living by what one does and says is important. The parents can only mold a child for so long, before the child must assist in that artistic endeavor.

Great take on the cue. We’re too busy selling ourselves to BE ourselves.

I confess I Googled elevator pitch. Imaging the energy involved in living a life that way. I suppose some personalities are fit for it. Interesting take on the cue.

Thanks! I am sure I cannot summarize myself in two sentences or a minute.

I like your second sentence, especially – “beliefs , ethics and dreams …” that sums up quite a bit of what we;re made of…
