Unanticipated Joy

Harry entered the house with a heavy heart and footsteps.

He had scored low in his MBA final exam. His mother did not ask any questions. He knew she was building up a strategy to protect him from his father’s angry outburst.

She walked into his room with an envelope in hand.

“What’s that, Mom?”

“A letter from the celebrity wildlife photographer, Steve Hopkins. You have been selected to assist him.”

“What?” He froze with unanticipated joy.

“And your father has no objections,” her smile widened.

Wildlife photography was his passion, but his father did not think it was lucrative.
