The space for self
is found only
in emptiness
devoid of reflections
and responses
ingrained early in life.
The prototypes
offered for choice
were made by someone
who did not know
the raw material
to be shaped
The prototypes I created
with full knowledge
of the self
was a strange sight
to the world.
The incompatibility
continues to plague life

thanks for playing the prompt this week Reena π
Interesting interpretation of the collage and poem. I like how you’ve taken this to another level and used yourself as the source of images – both from a camera lenses and then, a more intimate version, – the drawing. This adds a lovely dimension to your words.
The idea that we are infinite – raw material – and that we are shaped by those who don’t really know – is powerful. And so, logically, having to re-shape ourselves seems natural. I like how you’ve pulled the idea that sometimes, often, the two versions don’t quite jive – that the “end” we fashion of ourselves, for ourselves, even as it is never quite finished or complete – don’t necessarily make the best of friends. Wonderful idea here Reena π
